Read full description of the books:
Hero and heroine are married. He's a mamma's boy so he forces the heroine to live with the family that hates her. He knows they all hate her, but he figures if she just puts up with it, eventually everything will work itself out. Then a family friend that also hates her announces she's pregnant with the hero's child. The whole family and the girl all say that he's the dad. The whole world knows that he's the dad. He tells the heroine that he's not the dad, but when she asks who is, he refuses to tell her and instead says if she wants to know she should just ask the girl. She begs this girl who still says it's the hero's child. So she leaves him.
5 years later the hero goes to see his wife because he's going to marry the family approved woman. And the two fall into bed right away. Then the heroine winds up pregnant but doesn't want to tell him because he might decide not to divorce her if she does.
Follow that up with the hero going to see her because he wants her to come back home with him to visit his sick father, who is the only person who actually liked the heroine. She agrees. So when she gets there she's met with the hostile family, the girl who was pregnant with the hero's baby 5 years ago, yep she's still there, and the hero's almost fiancee. He hadn't asked yet, but they'd already discussed it and were just waiting for him to get a divorce from his wife.
The hero's mother hated one of her children, hated the heroine, and decided to let the married hero take the blame for fathering this girl's child to save her one son, that the whole family agreed with, instead of the son who was in the closet so would hurt NO ONE to take the blame for it. And the 'hero' of this story does not tell the heroine because it's a family thing and had to be kept a secret. She was NOT his girlfriend, she was his WIFE.
And just to put the crown on this horrible book, the hero claims to not be a cheater, despite the fact that he was married, therefore cheated on his wife when he slept with all these other women, and was practically engaged to be married to another woman when he slept with his wife again. Was he a cheater? Oh yes he was. And the heroine says..I haven't slept with anyone else since you. And the hero says good, because I wouldn't like it if anyone else touched you.
I should know better than to read Anne Mather. Her bad books are so horrible that her good books just aren't worth it.

Read information about the authorMildred Grieveson was born on October 10, 1946 in England. She had written all through her infant and junior years and on into her teens, the stories changing from children's adventures to torrid gypsy passions. Her mother used to gather these up from time to time, when her bedroom became too untidy, and dispose of them!
Mildred has always wanted to write - which is not to say she has always wanted to be a professional writer. One the contrary, for years She wrote only for her own pleasure, and it wasn't until her husband suggested that she ought to send one of her stories to a publisher that they put several publishers names into a hat and pulled one out. The trouble was, she never used to finish any of the stories, and Caroline, her first published book as Anne Mather, was the first book she'd actually completed. She was newly married then, and her daughter was just a baby, and it was quite a job juggling her household chores and scribbling away in exercise books every chance she got. Not very professional, as you can see, but that's the way it was. The rest as they say in history. And now, more than 160 books later, she's literally - excuse the pun - staggered by what happened. She also published books as Caroline Fleming or Cardine Fleming. Her Anne Mather's novel, Leopard in the Snow, was developed into a 1978 movie.
Mildred now has two grown-up children, a son and daughter, and two adorable grandchildren, Abigail and Ben.
